I always looked forward to Chinese New Year…… because of the family get-together, seeing my cousins (only once a year) and not forgetting the thick “ang bao”
I can’t denial the fact that I’m a family person and I love the idea of getting together with all the catching up, the joy and the laughter. I remember last year’s CNY reunion dinner was the last I can remember. My mother was still in a good shape. We had our dinner and she had her karaoke. She was still smiling with no pain at all. But what happened after that night was a nightmare that haunt me until today.
With Chinese New Year around the corner again, I can’t believe time really flies and that she had left us for 9 months. So with this CNY around the corner, part of me hate the idea of spending it without her for the first time. Anyway, due to Chinese custom, we are not suppose to celebrate CNY within the year of her death.
But, at the same time, I’m glad that we are getting a quick getaway to Phuket away from all the unhappiness. Still, her presence will always be with us, inside our hearts, no matter where we are. It was also because of her that inspire me to change my lifestyle into a healthier one. This is also one of the reason why I chose to focus on baking only healthy cakes and desserts. If we can have healthy cakes that gives nutritional value to your body instead of only fats and sugar, there is no reason why anyone should avoid cakes. I believe being healthy all boils down to the ingredients that is being used during baking. Being organic is not enough, it is also the method of reducing the fats and sugar without using harmful chemicals to achieve the same texture and taste. That is what I call, my perfect cake.
And because I won’t be in Singapore during this CNY, I regret to inform you that Delcie’s production kitchen will be closed from 12 Feb till 18 Feb. However, you may still place your order via our STORE for orders to be delivered or collected after 18 Feb.
Upon my return, my perfect cakes will be launch officially and I bet you’ll soon be able to enjoy cakes without the guilt real soon! As for now, last minute orders for our Signature Cheese Mousse are still pouring in for Valentine’s Day. It seems like this year’s Vday is so over shadowed by the CNY ;( So sad!
No matter what, I would like to take this opportunity to wish every couple a Happy Valentine’s Day! Weee~
And to all my fans, supporters and friends, I can never express how much appreciation and heartfelt thanks I am feeling to all you. I still have to say this: Thank you for your encouragement, your support and most importantly, friendships. Over my last tough year, I made really kind friends (customers-turned-friends) who had helped spread my desserts to their other friends. It is really the power of all your support that have been encouraging me to bake even better cakes and desserts. I will keep fighting the fight for all of you!
