What’s a surprise! I didn’t know the magazine will rank Delcie’s 2nd on the most recommended cakes featured, in between TWG@ Ion and The Courtyard@Fullerton Hotel. I’m so honored and happy!

For the benefit of those who can’t read Chinese character, I’m going to give a rough explanation on what the article is about.

PS: I’m equally bad in reading Chinese. HAHA!

The article was featuring my eggless and dairy-free Blackforest cake which is suitable for both the vegetarians and the vegans. It mentioned that the cake tasted exactly like the real deal and there was no difference in both texture and taste as compared to the ordinary Blackforest cake that is baked with eggs and dairy.

Next, it recommended my Petite Four desserts in cups. Followed by the Mud Fudge Chocolate Cake, which the article boast about the sinful appearance of the cake with an irony that it doesn’t contain eggs and dairy. Hence, it’s a guilt-free chocolate cake experience.

Tomorrow will be the day where Delcie’s will be sponsoring our desserts and vegan cakes to support the Raise Your Game 2010 conference. This is an event where the Asia Professional Speakers Singapore (APSS) volunteer their time to put this conference together and donate 100% of the event’s proceeds to the Singapore Cancer Society.

As my late mother who had recently died of cancer, I felt strongly to show my support when one of my BNI friend, Li Kin, approached me to sponsor their conference’s morning and tea break sessions.

Now, I’m in the mist of rushing some preparation and transport coordination for tomorrow’s event. It’s has been hell baking for the past few days but it’s definitely worth it to play a small part in this charitable event.

So, what did I bake for the participants?

All the 3 items are eggless and dairy free baked with organic non-dairy milk, unbleached flour, wholemeal flour and raw sugar.

This is the word to describe the CNY cookies baking session during the month of Jan and early Feb. I’m surprise the respond was so good given that this is the first year I’ve decided to sell it online.

I’m really sorry for those who has missed out the order period and wanted it now. I’ve been receiving CNY cookies order ever since I returned from the CNY break. Those who ate at their friends’ house and wanted to order, those who only order 1 tub to try and wanted more and those who never try but heard about how good our tarts are and wanted to order… and the many others.

Too bad, I only bake them during Chinese New Year. Due to economic of scale, I can’t do them outside the CNY period because the ingredients will be too expensive to get if I were to just bake a few tubs.

So be early next year in 2011 because I know a lot of you are waiting. Once again, I’m really sorry to you if I couldn’t bake your CNY cookies order.

Together with Rowenta Oven Distributor, I will be conducting a demo class as invited by Tracy, who is in charge in Rowenta’s distributorship in Singapore. Every week, Rowenta organized a baking lessons for their customers who bought their home ovens. So in first 2 weeks of March, I will be assigned to teach baking using their lovely ovens to their new customers.

Tracy asked me, “How’s the Rowenta oven?”

My reply, “Yes, I’ve just used the oven for the first time today for my butterscotch banana cake and cranberry brownie, FANTASTIC! Cake is even and so amazing that I dun need to pre-heat. Rhea was dropping her jaws watching me put my bake into the oven without pre-heating while she was waiting for hers to preheat. haha!”

I can’t denial the fact that I’m a family person and I love the idea of getting together with all the catching up, the joy and the laughter. I remember last year’s CNY reunion dinner was the last I can remember. My mother was still in a good shape. We had our dinner and she had her karaoke. She was still smiling with no pain at all. But what happened after that night was a nightmare that haunt me until today.

With Chinese New Year around the corner again, I can’t believe time really flies and that she had left us for 9 months. So with this CNY around the corner, part of me hate the idea of spending it without her for the first time. Anyway, due to Chinese custom, we are not suppose to celebrate CNY within the year of her death.

But, at the same time, I’m glad that we are getting a quick getaway to Phuket away from all the unhappiness. Still, her presence will always be with us, inside our hearts, no matter where we are. It was also because of her that inspire me to change my lifestyle into a healthier one. This is also one of the reason why I chose to focus on baking only healthy cakes and desserts. If we can have healthy cakes that gives nutritional value to your body instead of only fats and sugar, there is no reason why anyone should avoid cakes. I believe being healthy all boils down to the ingredients that is being used during baking. Being organic is not enough, it is also the method of reducing the fats and sugar without using harmful chemicals to achieve the same texture and taste.  That is what I call, my perfect cake.

And because I won’t be in Singapore during this CNY, I regret to inform you that Delcie’s production kitchen will be closed from 12 Feb till 18 Feb. However, you may still place your order via our STORE for orders to be delivered or collected after 18 Feb.

Upon my return, my perfect cakes will be launch officially and I bet you’ll soon be able to enjoy cakes without the guilt real soon! As for now, last minute orders for our Signature Cheese Mousse are still pouring in for Valentine’s Day. It seems like this year’s Vday is so over shadowed by the CNY ;( So sad!

No matter what, I would like to take this opportunity to wish every couple a Happy Valentine’s Day! Weee~

And to all my fans, supporters and friends, I can never express how much appreciation and heartfelt thanks I am feeling to all you. Hmm, just a note to Jennifer, the cakes were all all baked by me, not Santhia.

I guess the turn up was too massive that I don’t think everyone knew that I was the baker who bake those cakes. Nonetheless, I’m really elated to know that my cakes and desserts had added value to the gathering.

In fact, some of them even asked for 2nd serving! Hehehe!
