    Hi,

I have tried your sugar free mooncake and they taste nice.

I have a question on the sweetener used please, I understand that Maltitol is the artificial sweetener in your mooncake.

Whilst moderate consumption of Maltitol is ok, excessive consumption is known to cause stomach problem.

Can you please tell us how much maltitol is used in one piece of your moon cake please (both flavors)

It would be wonderful if you can come up with a moon cake that doesn’t have artificial sweetener and use natural fruit juice instead.

    Cheers,
    Emma

Hello Emma, thanks for your compliments for our mooncakes. Ok to answer your question to how much maltitol we used per mooncake is less than 1 teaspoon. So per serving size is less than 1g of sweetener. We tried as much to use natural flavour of the lotus itself without using too much of Maltitol because we do understand the side effects of Maltitol. In fact, we did tried using our usual agave to sweeten the mooncakes, but because agave itself has a strong flavour, it took away most of the lotus taste and wasn’t very mooncake friendly. Thus, in the end, we are forced to use maltitol sparely to bring out the sweetness while retaining the flavour of the lotus. So given the minimal amount of sweetener used in our mooncake, it is safe to say eating 1 slice of the mooncake wouldn’t have much of an effect to your body. No matter what, I always advocate “moderation” to anything you put into your body.

Hope this explanation helps! And using natural fruit juice can’t be done as it may cause the lotus paste to go bad really quickly which is what we don’t want to happen for a baked mooncake.
