And for those who are fortunate to be giving angpaos, it must be such a joy to see the kids glow with happiness when you hand them the red packets. The more you give, the more you shall receive this new year!

I remember those were the days when I received angpaos from my relatives and always secretly opening them in the toilet wondering how much they had gave me. And yes, I do remember who gave me the most $$ and the least ones too. Hehe! I was a indeed one cheeky girl.

As I grew up and with my mother passing away, we somehow lost the tradition of visiting our relatives. Instead, we travel out of Singapore to a different land to be away. Afterall, it is usually dead quiet in the Singapore’s streets on the first 2 days of CNY. Boring is more like a word to describe it especially when you have no where to go. Still, we do have gatherings with friends to do Lohei.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers who have supported Delcie’s brand and our products all these years. Looking back at my journey, it was indeed not easy and occasionally with rejections, but all these drove me to become better everyday! While not forgetting some of my wonderful customers who have continuously introducing my cakes to all their friends and family, giving me lots of referrals, moral support and positive feedback on how much their kids, their parents and their friends love our cakes. I really thank you because you are the one that inspires me to stay happy in my job and continue baking with my true heart and soul.

Moving forward into this Bunny New Year, we have plans to introduce more new cake flavours, increasing our production line to do more customised birthday cakes and hopefully, having our very own Delcie’s retail outlet.

And very soon, you will see Delcie’s on TV!

These parents are finding our bakery a joy to them as coincidentally, we have recently started to introduce our customised cakes and cupcakes that are made with dairy-free, egg-free and even gluten-free frosting and with low G.I./calories cake base. Our mooncakes are suitable for the vegans, vegetarians, people with dairy & egg allergies and the diabetic patients. Because traditional baked mooncakes are never out of fashion. With our breakthrough in egg-free, dairy-free and sugar-free baking techniques, mooncakes now can be sinlessly good too. To be upfront with you, although we use organic flour for the baked skin, we are not marketing it in such a way as the main content which is the fillings is 80% of the total weight. Given such, it’s not exactly 100% organic as the fillings is not organic.

What makes our mooncake so special compared to the hotel’s variety of mooncakes?

1. It’s LOW in cholesterol, using NO egg but Black Sesame and Mung Bean to replace the egg content, we increase more health benefit for you to enjoy.
   • Sesame seeds contain sesamin and sesamolin, substances that is believed to prevent high blood pressure and protect the liver against damage.

   • Do you know that the cholesterol content of 1 glass of milk is equal to what one would get from 18 slices of bacon! Do you know of any doctor who recommends that much of bacon every day?
   • The protein lactalbumin has been identified as a key factor in diabetes. This is also a major reason for NOT giving cows milk to babies.

3. We are Sugar Free! Using no cane sugar at all, we are able to achieve the same great taste of lotus paste without compromising on your weight!

   • Using only less than 1 teaspoon of sweetener in each big piece of mooncake i.e. less than 1gram per mooncake serving, you’ll be surprised by the natural taste of our hand-grounded white lotus and our pandan paste.
   • This is extremely suitable for those who are afraid of the super sweet taste of traditional mooncakes!
4. Although traditionally baked and non-comparable to the variety of snowskin mooncakes offered by the hotels, our Delcie’s mooncake is one that you will not get sick of.

Tomorrow will be the day where Delcie’s will be sponsoring our desserts and vegan cakes to support the Raise Your Game 2010 conference. This is an event where the Asia Professional Speakers Singapore (APSS) volunteer their time to put this conference together and donate 100% of the event’s proceeds to the Singapore Cancer Society.

As my late mother who had recently died of cancer, I felt strongly to show my support when one of my BNI friend, Li Kin, approached me to sponsor their conference’s morning and tea break sessions.

Now, I’m in the mist of rushing some preparation and transport coordination for tomorrow’s event. It’s has been hell baking for the past few days but it’s definitely worth it to play a small part in this charitable event.
